Congleton-based developer Adlington has cause to celebrate its official launch at the Tatton Park RHS Flower Show in July was marked by the companys sponsored garden being awarded a prestigious Silver Gilt Flora Medal, the second highest accolade awarded at RHS flower shows.
But it wasnt just the judges who were impressed with the striking garden - hundreds of visitors also praised its bold design. Adlingtons in-house landscape architect, Dan Milner, who designed the Relax and Reflect garden was elated by the recognition, especially as such a high placing is rare for first time exhibitors. He says:
Designing a show garden has been an amazing experience by trade Im a landscape architect, so tend to focus more on the structural aspects of garden design. In the Relax and Reflect garden, I had to give just as much thought to the horticultural aspects and really enjoyed experimenting with the planting. Im absolutely delighted with the result and cant wait to see the design recreated in its final home at the forthcoming Sandbach development.
Combining modernist design, a dramatic steel water feature, calm reflecting pools and lush planting in rich red tones its little wonder the garden caused such a stir. Its inspiration lies in Adlingtons apartment developments which, exclusively for over 55s, will offer luxurious independent living alongside, at the majority of sites, bespoke 24 hour care and support delivered by specialist care provider MHA (Methodist Homes for the Aged).
With Adlingtons first development set to launch in Rhos-on-Sea later this year, the company is delighted with the amount of interest shown by visitors to the show in its new concept. Marketing Manager Claire Reede says:
Exhibiting at the RHS Tatton Show was not only very enjoyable, but it has proven a fantastic launch pad for our product. Throughout the show we had genuine interest in the product and we have had numerous people sign up to receive information on the forthcoming developments. The garden gave people a real feel for the level of luxury that Adlington developments will offer, and the fact that it was awarded a Silver Gilt medal was the icing on the cake.
The first Adlington developments will be located in Rhos-on-Sea in Colwyn Bay, Romiley near Stockport and Wolstanton near Newcastle-under-Lyme. Sites in Sandbach, Congleton, Northwich in Cheshire, Buxton in Derbyshire, Stone in Staffordshire and Beaumaris in Anglesey are set to follow.
